Stogumber is a picturesque village in undulating country between the Brendon Hills and the Quantocks. It has colour-washed and thatched cottages, and cobbled pavements. Also of note is a group of 17th century almshouses, the White Horse Inn and a red sandstone church dating back to c.1300.

It is less than a mile by road to the edge of the Exmoor National Park, and 3.6 miles (as the crow flies) to the sea.

More information about Stogumber is on the village website.

More information about the West Somerset Railway can be found at the official WSR website. Alternatively, try the unofficial WSR website, which contains more background information, such as information about the various locomotives, and, in my view, a better laid out timetable.
